WHO IS THIS GUY?
Mulugeta Ayene is an award winning Ethiopian photojournalist and a fine art photographer living in Addis Ababa. Mulugeta is currently working for the Associated Press (AP) and his photographic career includes regular assignments for prominent international organizations such as UNICEF, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the International Rescue Committee, to mention a few. Most recently, Mulugeta has joined a team of television judges for LTV’s third Eye talent show where he mentors aspiring photographers. He was also a judge for the Uganda Press Photo Award. Mulugeta’s works won him multiple awards including the first prize in photojournalism in the ‘Excellence in Journalism’ competition organized by the Foreign Correspondents Association of Ethiopia (FCAE) in 2011 and 2012 as well as being in the final round for the 2012 edition of the India-Africa photo contest. While his work covers a wide range of subjects, recurrent themes in Mulugeta’s work are social and spatial transformations and their effects on identity and social relations.
